What you should know about: Louis Vuitton
It’s one of the oldest brands featuring in this series and you need to guess which one I’m talking about. Okay, I know you had already read the title, but it was worth trying. Let’s learn a little more about Louis Vuitton.
The brand was founded in 1854 (162 years ago, so long!!), by Louis Vuitton, in Paris, France. In 1858, Louis introduced his flat-bottom trunks with trianon canvas and, in 1885, the company opened their first store in London. Due to the multiple imitations of his looks, Vuitton created several patterns, so they would stop copying his design. When Louis Vuitton died in 1892, his son, Georges Vuitton, took over the company’s management and began a campaign to build the company into a worldwide corporation. In 1913, Louis Vuitton opened a store on the Champs-Elysees and, until World War I began, they opened stores in New York, Bombay, Washington, London, Alexandria and Buenos Aires. As the years passed, more bags were introduced and, when in 1936 Georges Vuitton died, was his son, Gaston-Louis Vuitton that assumed the leadership of the company. Later, Louis Vuitton started to incorporate leather into most of its products. In 1978, the company opened the first stores in Japan and, by 1989, Louis Vuitton was already in charge of 130 stores worldwide. In 1990, Yves Carcelle was named president of the brand. In 1997, Marc Jacobs became the brand’s artistic director and, in 1998 he released the company’s first ready to wear, for both men and women. In 2010, Louis Vuitton opened what is described as their most luxurious store, in London. On 4th November 2013, the company confirmed that Nicolas Ghesquière had been hired to replace Marc Jacobs as artistic director of women’s collections.

É umas das marcas mais antigas a aparecer nesta série e têm de adivinhar de quem estou a falar. Ok, eu sei que já leram o título, mas valeu a pena tentar. Vamos aprender um bocadinho mais sobre a Louis Vuitton.

What you should know about: Prada
It’s a new year but this series continues. How could it end? I absolutely love it and always learn so much, and I know you do too. So new year, new brand. Haha, I just got a new slogan. And how much do you like Prada? Yes, today we are going to talk about this brand founded 103 years ago (so long!). But moving on with the blah, blah, blah…
Prada was founded in 1913 by Mario Prada, in Milan, Italy, and in the beginning, the brand sold leather goods and imported English handbags. Mario Prada did not believe that women should have a role in business, but due to the lack of interest of his son in the company, was his daughter, Luisa Prada, who took the lead of the company. Luisa’s daughter, Miuccia Prada joined the company in 1970 and took over for her mother in 1978. Patrizio Bertelli (an Italian that had his own leather goods business), joined the company as business manager, which allowed Miuccia to implement her creativity in the designs. In 1983, Prada opened a second store in Milan’s shopping heart, as well as in Florence, Madrid, Paris and New York City. In 1985 Miuccia Prada released the “classic Prada handbag” and, in 1989, Prada launched the first women’s ready to wear collection. At the year of 1997, the brand acquired shares in the Gucci group and, later, Bertelli accused Gucci of imitate their designs. To help paying the debts of over $850 million, Prada planned on listing 30% of the company on the Milan Stock Exchange, in 2001. In 2005, Prada made a permanently installed sculpture, 1.4 miles northwest of Valentine, Texas, and about 26 miles northwest of the city of Marfa. The name of the art piece is titled “Prada Marfa” and it resembles a Prada store.

Maria Prada não acreditava que as mulheres deviam ter um papel nos negócios, mas o seu filho não tinha interesse na empresa, por isso, foi a sua filha, Luísa Prada que ficou encarregue dos negócios da família. Miuccia Prada, filha de Luísa, juntou-se à empresa em 1970 e assumiu o controlo da marca em 1978. Patrizio Bertelli (um italiano que tinha a sua própria empresa de artigos de pele), juntou-se à empresa como gerente de negócios, o que permitiu a Miuccia implementar a sua criatividade nos designs. Em 1983, a Prada abriu uma nova loja em Milão, assim como em Florença, Madrid, Paris e Nova York. Em 1985, Miuccia lançou a “a mala clássica da Prada” e, em 1989, foi lançada a primeira coleção de pronto a vestir para mulheres. Do you want to start moving?
I’m really, really sorry for only posting now but, I was busy being sad because the Holidays were ending. I had a mental block and couldn’t write anything so, all I did was lay on the couch and cry. Of course I’m kidding, but it was my will. After two days, only watching movies and being a couch potato, I decided to start moving.
But let’s celebrate! It’s my first post of 2016. I bet you are making leaps of joy, you can tell me, don’t be shy!
Well, in following of the post where I presented you sport clothes, and, in order to encourage me to start moving without having to spend money in gyms, I bring you some videos with exercises you can do at home. Nothing better, right? You stay at home, you do exercise and you don’t spend a cent. If you don’t want to stay home, you can always go to a garden, a park or somewhere else. Why don’t you take a look at the videos and, if someday you need some great exercises, you can always come back.
I’ll start them right a way, why don’t you start too?
Peço muito desculpa por só escrever agora, mas estava ocupada a estar triste porque a época festiva chegou ao fim. Tive um bloqueio mental e não conseguia escrever nada, por isso, tudo o que fiz foi ficar no sofá a chorar. Claro que estou a brincar, mas era a minha vontade. Depois de dois dias só a ver filmes e a ser sedentária, estou decidida a me mexer.
Mas vamos celebrar! É o meu primeiro artigo de 2016. Aposto que estão a dar pulos de alegria, podem-me dizer, não sejam tímidas!
No seguimento do post em que apresentei roupa de desporto, e, de modo a me encorajar a mexer sem gastar dinheiro em ginásios, trago-vos alguns vídeos com exercícios que podem fazer em casa. Nada melhor, certo? Ficam em casa, fazem exercício e não gastam um cêntimo. Se não querem ficar em casa, podem sempre ir para um jardim ou outro sítio. Vejam os vídeos e, se algum dia precisarem de ótimos exercícios, podem sempre voltar.
Eu vou começar já, porque é que não começam também?
Today is the day…
Today is the day we will enter on the new year, the day in which our lives will not change by magic, you know that right? But, above all that, the day that a new hope grows inside us, the hope that 2016 is going to be our year.
Well, for me, I can only promise that I will work twice as much to make my dreams come true. In 2016 I will finish high school and I really want to go to college, so it is the only option I have, but notice this, I’m not complaining, I could not.
But, I just came by to wish you all the best year of your lives, with lots of love, success, health, money, travels, chocolates and all the good stuff that life has to offer.

Hoje é o dia em que vamos entrar no novo ano, o dia em que as nossas vidas não vão mudar por magia, sabem isso, certo? Mas, acima de tudo, o dia em que uma nova esperança cresce dentro de nós, a esperança de que 2016 vai ser o nosso ano.
Bem, no que me diz respeito, só posso prometer que vou trabalhar o dobro para realizar os meus sonhos. Em 2016 foi acabar o secundário e quero muito ir para a universidade, por isso, é a única opção que tenho, mas tomem nota, não me estou a queixar, não posso.
Mas, só passei por aqui para vos desejar a todas o melhor ano das vossas vidas, com toneladas de amor, sucesso, saúde, dinheiro, viagens, chocolates e tudo de bom que a vida tem para oferecer.

What you should know about: Dior
I bet you were already saying: When will she do another post about a brand? I can’t wait anymore, I need it!. You can stop crying now, I’m back and I bring you Dior. Ohhh, such an iconic brand! Classic and timeless. And, for me, the best clothes are just those: the classic ones (I love others, of course, but those never go out of style). I almost forgot, Dior has a movie called “Dior and I”, I need to watch it as soon as possible! But moving on to the brand’s history…
Dior was founded in 1946, by Christian Dior, in Paris, France. The company had financial support from the businessman, Marcel Boussac, who invited Dior to design for Philippe et Gaston, but Dior refused and created is own brand. Despite Boussac being the largest owner of the company, Dior was allowed to have an unusual great part in is namesake label. Dior launched is first collection on 12 February 1947, it was called “Corolle” and “Huit” but it went down in the fashion industry as the “New Look”, which became very popular and had huge influence on other designers in the 50’s. The Christian Dior Parfums was also launched in 1947 and his first perfume was “Miss Dior”. The company started to expand in 1949 with the opening of their first store in New York, and in the 50’s, despite the strong European following of the brand, more than half of its revenue was generated in the US. After Dior’s death in 1957, he was recognized as one of history’s greatest fashion figures. Yves Saint Laurent was promoted to artistic director. In 1981 after the Willot Group went into bankruptcy (Yves was no longer the artistic director), Bernard Arnault and his investment group purchased it. In 1997, Jhon Galliano became the artistic director of Dior and the perfume “J’adore” was released in 1999. Moving on to our days, in April 2012, Raf Simons was announced as the new artistic director, and in March 2015 Rihanna was chosen to be the official spokeswoman for Dior.

After all is almost summer… almost
With the New Year just around the corner, we all know what everyone is going to start talking about. Summer! Six months until summer and I’m already thinking about it. Hot days and light clothes. It’s all I want. There is noting better than that! But, we all know what summer means: getting fit. Tragedy of the tragedies, I need to start moving and all I want is to stay on the couch. Yes, I have a big problem when it comes to exercise, I need to have lots of enthusiasm, AND I DON’T HAVE ANY! But, let’s see, there are some things that can make me want to move, and I think you know at least one. Cute sport clothes! We need to show them, right? And exercise, we need to exercise, I almost forgot.
Do you want me to make the best sport clothes selection ever? Of course I have done it already, what were you thinking? I’m not playing here! This is a serious blog!

Com o Ano Novo já ao virar da esquina, todas sabemos do que é que toda a gente vai começar a falar. O verão! Seis meses até ao verão e já estou a pensar nele. Dias quentes e dias fáceis. É tudo o que quero. Não há nada melhor! Mas, todas sabemos também, o que é que o verão significa: ficar em forma. Tragédia das tragédias, eu preciso de me começar a mexer, mas tudo o que quero é ficar no sofá. Sim, tenho um grande problema no que toca ao exercício, eu preciso de um enorme entusiasmo. E NÃO TENHO NENHUM! Mas, vamos ver, há algumas coisas que me fazem querer mexer, e acho que sabem pelo menos uma. Roupas de desporto giras! Precisamos de as mostrar, certo? E fazer desporto, quase que me esquecia.
Querem que faça a melhor seleção de roupa de desporto de sempre? Claro que já a fiz, o que é que estavam a pensar? Eu não ando aqui a brincar! Este é um blog sério!
